This is just too cool!
Check out this video of the mimic octopus, an animal that can morph its body shape and color -- and change its behavior -- to transform itself into everything from a poisonous lionfish or sea snake, to more than a dozen other species. It all seems to be a strategy to protect itself from predators.
The mimic octopus was first discovered by Australian and British researchers in 1998 off the coast of Indonesia, and it's been blowing scientists' minds ever since. "This," says one of the lead researchers, "is a rather dramatic animal."
